Worship Worship is at the heart of any truly Christian body. We provide a variety of worship experiences to lead people to a deeper relationship with God. In addition to our weekly service each Sunday, we offer Sunday Morning Worship The church meets for worship each Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. Traditional and contemporary elements are blended to bring the congregation into the presence of God. During worship, a nursery is available for children age 3 and under. Younger children, age 4 through 1st grade, are invited to participate in Children's Church, which begins just after the children's sermon. this allows children to get a feel for how to worship in "big church", yet have a lesson geared to their needs while the pastor speaks to the larger congregation. The guest information brochure contains more detailed information regarding our worship service, written especially for first-time visitors. Christmas Eve Our Christmas Eve services have become an especially meaningful tradition. At 2:00 p.m., we will have a "Birthday Party for Jesus", geared especially for preschoolers and younger children. Children bring a baby gift, which they wrap during the party and place under the Chrismon tree in the sanctuary. There's a birthday cake, and songs, and the reading of the Christmas story. After Christmas, the baby items are donated to the Albemarle Crisis Pregnancy Center. At 7:00 p.m., and again, at 10:00 p.m., we celebrate the birth of Jesus with candlelight communion services, designed for the entire family. (Nursery services are provided for the 7:00 p.m. service only.) Maundy Thursday On the Thursday prior to Easter, we gather in the sanctuary for a solemn remembrance of Jesus's death on the cross for our sins. This year's service will be held on Thursday, April 13th, at 7:00 p.m. |
